CAPITALIST MELTDOWN

A few weeks ago, a capitalist meltdown was pretty much the stuff of history and perhaps left wing fiction at that! It seemed that capitalism or at least American capitalism would go on and on, like an energizer bunny.

Unfortunately even the energizer bunny runs out of juice and with the international capital working with the American comprador bourgeoisie, the economic well being of the American public is far less important, or likely, than it used to be.

Furthermore, there is no longer a credible connection between the will of the people and the federal government. Every political issue is bought and sold and that leaves the regular working stiff out of the equation.

Until now, most of those expressing concern about the stability of capitalism in the United States and/or on a world scale have been relegated to the rumpus room. I think these voices of doom should seek to be heard now. More and more of us are willing to listen. Of course I would prefer that the religious right keep their nonsense in the closet, you know the place that Jesus insisted the faithful pray.

What is truly remarkable is that the President of the United States and all the boys in charge of the banks say the capitalist system is about to melt down unless the working class pays their bill, again. My point is not the bailout they demand but their assertion that their system is virtually doomed without it!

As I write, Letterman is crucifying McCain for saying he has to not debate Obama because the economy is "cratering". It's a very funny skit but the point here is that everyone knows that the economy is in more trouble than anyone ever led us to believe was possible. What happened to that bright city on the hill?

This is the kind of turnabout that leads to the phrase, "Marxism is omnipotent because it is correct." In this case, Marxism is correct in the sense that capitalist crisis does lead to just what we see to day and this time on a world scale in a very special way. This has been exactly against the received truth for decades. This meltdown was not supposed to happen! A bit of hyperbole, no doubt, but still there is a stunning realization that Marxism cannot be dead.

IS THE BAILOUT A CONCENTRATION OF ALL REAL POWER IN THE HANDS OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH?

Over the last decade the American people have refused to look at reality, particularly the reality of the the two party system and the corporate state. They didn't react to the coup of 2000 the way a democratic people would. They refused to see the electoral frauds of 2004 and the continuation of the coup.

Now Congress is being asked to bail out the super rich and the ruling class. They want all power in their hands and Mr. Paulson will be authorized to use it on their behalf. Yet the American people remain almost completely unaware of this as they continue their religious devotions and remain enthralled by their completely narcissistic and individualistic view of society and politics.

The concept of citizenship has fallen into obscurity while the few that do participate in matters of public concern are either the tools of financial capital or those peculiar individuals known as "activists". Efforts to peacefully demonstrate at the DNC and RNC resulted in various forms of repression and vicious militaristic attacks on our citizens by the jack booted caste of robocops recruited from every level of the "people repression system" (law enforcement system=people repression system).

Will anyone stand up? Will we stand together against this tyranny?
